2013 TRASH TO TREASURE
CONTEST IS
‘FOR THE BIRDS’
This annual
contest, held at the GCFP convention, is an opportunity to recycle and reuse in
new ways. It is a challenge to the
creativity of our garden club members and a fun project for all.
DETAILS: The interpretation of ‘For
the Birds’ is left to the imagination of the designer. The entry must pertain to our feathered
friends, whether utilitarian or whimsical.
Some suggestions might be birdhouses, birdbaths or birdfeeders, but
these are only a few possibilities.
The rules are:
1.
Each entry will be displayed on a table or a
free standing hanger provided by the
entrant.
2.
Each entry may be 24” wide and 24” deep.
3.
Each entry must weigh less than fifteen pounds.
4.
Each entry must use materials that are repurposed,
reused, recycled or can be recycled.
5.
Each entry may be the work of more than one
person.
6.
Each District must select one entry to
represent it. The method of selection is
left to each District.
7.
Each entry must include: the title of your treasure and list of
materials used on the front of 3 x 5 card.
On the back of the card list district, garden club name, your name/s/
and address. If you wish to list the
inspiration for your entry, please do.
There is no requirement that the entry from a
club be the work of one person. In an
effort to encourage participation, clubs may schedule group workshops or
informal gatherings to design and execute a Trash to Treasure entry.
The 2013
Trash to Treasure Contest will be judged by the Pennsylvania Resource Council. Cash awards will be given to the clubs of the
winners. 1st - $150, 2nd
- $75, 3rd - $25.
